The Ten: EPL Power Rankings

By Marshall Weber.

Welcome to history. Well, not really. But here's YHTS' first stab at the English Premier League.

1. Manchester United, 1-0-0

No other team looked as dominate over the weekend as Manchester United. The reigning Premier League Champions were at Swansea this past weekend and left little doubt that they're still the best club in the league. They won in dominating fashion too. Robin Van Persie and Danny Welbeck each finished the match with two goals in United's 4-1 crushing victory against the Welsh club.

Next EPL Match: Chelsea

2. Manchester City, 1-0-0

The Jennifer Lawerence of the EPL, according to Ted Lasso, also won in dominating fashion this weekend in their home win against Newcastle. Due to the strong midfield play of the speedy Jesus Navarro and scores from Nasir, Toure, Aguero and Silva, the Citizens City were able to dominate Newcastle 4-0.

City looked brilliant as ever on the defensive side of the ball as well. With the offensive weapons Man City added in the off-season, it's already looking like another year in which the EPL is dominated by the Manchester Clubs.

Next EPL Match: Cardiff

3. Chelsea, 2-0-0

The Blues are still making their bid for the Hair-transplant wonder, Wayne Rooney, but they're not really looking like they need him at the moment.

Their home win against the newly promoted Hull wasn't most convincing of wins, but their 2-1 victory over a very good Aston Villa squad on Thursday secures them a spot at number three.

Next EPL Match: Manchester United

Party on Wayne.

4. Tottenham Hotspur, 1-0-0

From an American point of view, the Spurs have a completely different feel this year with our darling Clint Dempsey transferring to the MLS' Seattle Sounders earlier this month and Gareth Bale very likely on his way to Real Madrid.

Just how much is Bale worth? Apparently £93 million (roughly 144 million US). That's the price Real Madrid is willing to pay for the Welsh superstar. But is anyone truly worth that money? Messi maybe. As much as I like Bale, his story so far reminds be a lot of Kaka, who I also really liked, but flaked once he got to Real Madrid from AC Milan

Whatever the case with Bale may be or will be, Tottenham seems ready to move on without their superstar and started off their season right with a 1-0 victory against Crystal Palace.

Next EPL Match: Swansea

A-town down.
5. Liverpool, 1-0-0

The win against Stoke wasn't the prettiest of victories and as many chances as Liverpool gave themselves in the match, it was an underwhelming performance overall. Market wise, the Reds are in the hunt for another defender with Sebastian Coates being injured.

Oh yeah. They have that really likeable Luis Suarez fella. Love or hate Suarez, he's essential to getting the Reds back to glory.

Next EPL Match: Aston Villa

There's a new Sheriff in town
6. Southampton

The South England club looked impressive in their 1-0 road win against West Brom last week. After paying £20 million (about 31 million US) for Pablo Osvaldo earlier this week, The Saints are already will likely get immediate dividends from the Italian star. Things are going very well for them.

Next EPL Match: Sunderland

Or is this really Robert Downey JR?

7. Arsenal, 0-1-0

Does Aresene Wegner have too much power? In addition to having a rough off-season, The Gunners have also given up on signing Luis Suarez. In fact, Wegner has seemingly given up on signing anyway. He's doing his best Jerry Jones impression and if he doesn't loosen the reigns a bit, Arsenal could be headed for their worst season in years. But it's still Arsenal, so it won't be that bad.

Next EPL Match: Fulham

I'm a bumber sticker. :-)

8. Aston Villa

Villa is 'the' sleeper team for 2013-14. It's probably not fair to call them a sleeper because they're a pretty damn good team. Ciaran Clark, Gabby Agbonlahor, and Fabian Delph are all top-notch players and they led Villa to a crushing 3-1 away victory against Arsenal last Saturday.

Villa suffered a 2-1 loss against Chelsea on Thursday in what was a very tight game throughout. They're proving they can compete with elite and could very well have their best EPL finish ever.

Next EPL Match: Liverpool

Delph.
9. West Ham, 1-0-0

Bubbles. Bubbles. Bubbles. The Hammers looked great in their win against Cardiff. But then again, how good is Cardiff? The Dragons must've forgotten to bring their Mother Khaleesi to West London over the weekend because Cardiff looked very, very mediocre. Nevertheless it was still a great start for West Ham. They play at Newcastle this week and it's always fun to think about Charlie Hunman. The actor who portrayed West Ham thug Pete Dunham in Green Street Hooligans is a massive Newcastle fan. I'd love to see a face-off between Dunham and and Human.

Next EPL Match: Newcastle

10. Everton, 0-0-1

Everton played a hard fought match at Norwhich over the weekend which ended in a 2-2 draw. Seamus Coleman and Ross Barkley both scored and played brilliantly. Norwhich isn't an easy place to play by any means and Everton made the best of it.

Next EPL Match: West Brom

Hey. An American!
