Big 12 Preview Part 3: All-Conference Selection
By Marshall Weber
This is short and a bit vapid. But here is my Pre-Season All-Big 12 team. I also added an extra tailback and defensive back. Sue meh.

2013 Offensive MVP: Lache Seastrunk
Baylor's streak of likable and goofy superstars continues with Lache Seastrunk. The Temple native and former Oregon Duck is the right amount of cocky. There's nothing wrong with setting the bar high and saying you're gonna win the Heisman.
As a TCU fan, I'm glad we didn't have to play Baylor when Seastrunk was on his unbelievable tear. The stats are worth repeating again and again. In his final six games he averaged almost 140 rushing yards per game and finished the season with 1,012 rushing yards and seven touchdowns. His late surge certainly didn't go unnoticed as he was awarded Big 12 Newcomer of the Year. His performance even overshadowed the brilliant season of RGIII's long running number two, Nick Florence.
As a follower of Seastrunk on the IG, the kid does not let up a bit. He's a true gym rat who's getting stronger and faster by the day. In a conference that has no shortage of talented running backs, it's the metal mouth wonder that stands out and as of right now is the conference's best bet for a Heisman Trophy for 2013. Bottom line: I don't look forward to playing Baylor.

2013 Defensive MVP: Devonte Fields
Being mostly known for offense, a lot of the Big 12 defenses go unnoticed. But Texas, Oklahoma, TCU and Kansas State produce some of the best defensive players in the country. Even Iowa State is getting there. Having to play in a pass happy conference may be the reason that the Big 12 has the best secondary units in the entire country. But overshadowing the great safeties and cornerbacks of the league, it's defensive end Devonte Fields that stands out.
Fields is one of TCU's most coveted recruits ever and sent a shockwave throughout the country his freshman year. Fields made an immediate impact in 2012 and is a scary indication of what a tremendous coach Gary Patterson is. Much like Snyder at Kansas State, Patterson's greatest strength is turning Three-Star recruits into NFL caliber players. Now imagine a team full of four and five star players like Devonte playing for TCU. Yeesh.
The only worry I have for Fields is that with the loss of Stansly 'The Pudman' Maponga, Fields will be double teamed more and won't have as size-able of an impact in 2013. But given the talent raw that Fields has, he's more than capable of improving on an incredible 2012.
